Battle of Gettysburg

I have heard news of big fights in the East. The Confederates have supposedly beat the Union in battles at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. But, I have also heard news of a tremendous victory for the Union in Gettysburg. General Meade faced off with General Lee in a new setting, the North. The Confederates felt confident enough to change from a defensive position to offensive. This was obviously a bad move, Lee lost about 25,000 men. The South was winning the battle for a little while, but Meade stood his ground and was able to push back the Confederate troops. Lee gave up his hopes of invading the North and he is on his way back to Virginia now. I feel as if this battle could be a turning point in the war. The hopes of the South have gone down and I feel as if they are tired of fighting. Hopefully we can resolve our problems soon.
