The War is Ending

It has been a while since I last posted and a lot has happened. After we took control of the entire Mississippi, Lincoln appointed me the General of all Union forces. I left William Sherman in charge of the Mississippi Union while I headed east. The war took an nasty turn and became a total war! No one was safe. I faced off with Lee in Virginia and since I had the numbers I could spare a few troops if it meant beating the Confederacy. I lost 60,000 men and Lee lost 32,000. Because of this Sherman could march to Georgia and make the South "sick of war". Things seem to be coming to an end and I think the South is close to surrendering.

Seige of Vicksburg

The Siege of Vicksburg was a success! Once my troops and I were stationed we bombed the city. The bombing went on for about 7 days and the Confederates finally surrendered. The official signing of the surrender was July 4. Shortly after we got a hold of Vicksburg, Port Hudson surrendered in the North. The Union now has full control of the Mississippi! Hopefully there will be some recognition for my achievements. I believe that these contributions to the war are huge. With a few more wins in the east, I believe that the South will have no other option but to surrender. This war has been devastating to both sides and we need to unite as one united country again.

Finishing up in Mississippi

It is time to end the battles in the west so I can head east and aid my fellow Union soldiers. My goal is to capture Vicksburg. I have been destroying railroads to distract the South while my real motive was to head to the capital of Mississippi, Jackson, and take control of things. Once in Jackson it took me 18 days to establish control. It wasn't easy, but we did it. Now my sights are set on Vicksburg. Right now, I have my troops mobilized and heading south of Vicksburg to attack. This is going to be a big battle and we need to stay focused. But, once I capture Vicksburg the South will be completely divided and we can get a move on finishing the completion of the Anaconda Plan.
